Total Battle Colosseum: how the PvP event works

Plutheon team

Normal PvP in Total Battle costs troops, so most players only attack targets they are sure to beat. The Total Battle Colosseum removes that cost. It is a seven-day PvP tournament, rerun every week, where you fight with five captains and your dragon, send no troops to the Temple, and lose nothing back home. A defeat only drops you a few ranking spots, so attack the strongest opponents you can find.

How does the Total Battle Colosseum work?

You climb a ranking inside a division of players as strong as you, and your final rank decides your rewards. The tournament lasts seven days, runs non-stop, and restarts every week.

Every fight moves you on the ranking:

ResultEffect
You win an attackYou climb the ranking
You lose an attackYou slip down the ranking
Troops lostNone, in the Temple or in your city

Two things make it different from the rest of the game's PvP. Your army is your five captains rather than a troop stack, so how far you have levelled your captains is what decides your fights. And other players can attack you at any moment, so you are defending all week, not just attacking.

How do you set up a Colosseum defense squad?

Pick five captains, gear them, lock in your dragon, and save. The saved squad defends you every time another player attacks, and that can happen at any moment.

  1. Choose the five captains for your defense squad.
  2. Gear them up.
  3. Lock in your dragon. It joins the defense automatically.
  4. Hit save.

Treat this squad as seriously as your attacks: it matters just as much to where you finish.

How do you choose who to attack in the Colosseum?

Tap Challenge and pick from five opponents, sorted strongest at the top to weakest at the bottom. The Army Power of each opponent's defense squad is shown before you commit.

  1. Tap Challenge to see the five opponents.
  2. Compare their defense Army Power with what you can field.
  3. Build your attack squad for that matchup.
  4. Fight.
  5. If none of the five suit you, refresh the list for a new set.

Your daily attempts are limited, so don't burn them on a matchup you could have refreshed past.

Should you attack stronger players in the Colosseum?

Yes. Treating the Colosseum like normal PvP is the costly mistake. A defeat costs you a few ranking spots and nothing else, so the players who attack up climb, and the ones who wait for safe targets get left behind.

The real limit is attempts, not troops. Spend them on the fights that move you furthest: when a strong opponent is within reach of your attack squad, take the shot.

How do you learn from a lost Colosseum fight?

Open the battle log after every fight. It shows who you fought, their exact squad, and where you gained and lost points.

Use it to answer two questions before your next attempt: which of the opponent's captains did the damage, and which of yours fell short. Adjust your attack squad, or your defense squad if the log shows the same attackers keep beating it.

What are the Colosseum rewards?

Every rank pays out tournament currency, and the higher you finish, the bigger the haul. The top spots also earn titles and fragments of a new Monument for your city. The tournament also pays Dragon Coins, which the currency guide explains you need to train monster troops.

The currency goes into the tournament shop, which resets every week, so you can buy from it again each tournament. As of October 2026 it stocks:

The Battle Pass

Daily missions advance a Colosseum Battle Pass. Its headline reward is a new Artifact that boosts building speed, currency, Artifact XP, resources, and Gold. For other steady gold income, see every gold source in Total Battle.

What to do in your first Colosseum week

Save a geared five-captain defense with your dragon locked in before you attack anyone, then clear the daily missions every day so the Battle Pass keeps moving. When you challenge, refresh until a strong opponent is within reach and attack them. Read the log after each loss, because every attempt counts.
