How to get more gold in Total Battle

Plutheon team

Gold is the rarest resource in Total Battle, and it never feels like you have enough of it. The good news is that the game hands out gold in more places than most players realize — some of them sitting in menus you click past every day.

This guide walks through every reliable way to acquire gold, from the big map finds down to the small daily drips that add up. If you are not sure what gold should be spent on versus silver, master coins, or dragon coins, start with the breakdown of every Total Battle currency.

Dragon mounds: the biggest single find

Dragon mounds are the most obvious gold source on the map — and the most contested. They spawn randomly, they're rare, and the first player to occupy one usually keeps it. The payout scales with level: a level 5 dragon mound holds 5,000 gold.

There are two ways to find one:

  • Scout the map manually. Browse around and hope you spot one before anyone else does. It works, but it's slow.
  • Use a watchtower. A watchtower surfaces map finds for you — spot a free dragon mound, copy its coordinates, and send your troops to occupy it. This is by far the more efficient route.

When the mound is out of march range

Sometimes a dragon mound spawns too far away — you'll get a march time exceeded message when you try to send troops. Two workarounds:

  • Place a portal next to the resource. This is what many players do, and it gets your troops there quickly.
  • Send scouts instead. Scouts have a far greater march distance than guardsmen or monsters, and they can collect resources just like any other troops. This works just as well as a portal and costs you nothing.

Whichever troops you send, pick a captain built for gathering. Captain Stror is the specialist here — he's specifically for collecting resources and increases your army's carrying capacity, especially with the right equipment and artifact equipped.

Build your own gold mine

You don't have to wait for the map to give you gold — you can build a gold mine yourself:

  1. Click an empty tile on the map, then Build.
  2. Choose Resources, then Gold mines. The game shows how much gold the mine will yield — this is determined by your capital level. At a mid-level capital, that's around 700 gold per mine.
  3. Pay the construction cost in architect blueprints. That's the trade-off: blueprints are also valuable for upgrading buildings, so every mine you build is blueprints you can't spend elsewhere.
  4. Once built, click the mine, hit Capture, pick a captain, select troops, and start the march.

Mining takes time — roughly 20 minutes to extract 700 gold — and you don't need a huge escort. A handful of troops is enough; sending 300 guardsmen is overkill.

Arenas: small gold, plus a choice to make

Most players don't know this: sending your hero to fight in an arena can earn you gold. It's not a large amount, but it stacks with the resources and hero experience points you get anyway.

The detail worth knowing is that there are two visually different types of arena, and they reward different points:

  • One type grants conquest points when you attack it.
  • The other grants valor points.

The gold and resources are the same either way, so pick based on which points you currently need. And if you have a bonus active for extra valor or conquest points, hit arenas while it's running — you're going there anyway, so you may as well double up.

Clan chests and daily quests

Two low-effort sources that reward simply showing up:

  • Clan chests. Being in a good clan means gifts you can claim as chests — gold, resources, speed-ups. Individual claims can be small (25 gold is typical), but they sometimes run into the thousands. This alone is a reason to join an active clan.
  • Daily quests. Your daily quests and daily jobs pay out gold constantly — 50 here, 100 there, 200 on a good one — and often architect blueprints too, which feed straight back into building gold mines. Opening five quests can easily net a few hundred gold.

Neither source is dramatic, but both are free and repeatable. Every little helps.

The Triumphal Challenge and shop bonuses

Under Tournaments, the Triumphal Challenge rewards gold for completing missions as you progress through its levels — and you don't have to pay to benefit. Even on the free track (skipping the golden and elite tiers), working through the levels can unlock 10,000 gold, with more available the further you progress.

The shop itself also has a free bonus that grants 720 gold — claim it whenever it's available, since it costs nothing.

As for paid purchases: shop offers can include thousands of gold, plus speed-ups and experience points. Spending real money isn't a bad thing if you have it and it makes the game more fun for you — but be honest with yourself about the risk. It's easy to become reliant on the mega bonuses for things you could earn by just playing, and that habit gets expensive.

Where to focus first

If you're short on gold, work the list top-down by effort-to-payout:

  • Claim the free stuff daily — clan chests, daily quests, and the free shop bonus take seconds.
  • Run the Triumphal Challenge's free track every time it's on; it's the biggest no-spend payout available.
  • Keep a watchtower eye on dragon mounds, and don't let distance stop you — scouts or a portal will get you there.
  • Convert spare architect blueprints into gold mines when you're not saving them for a building upgrade.

None of these make you rich overnight, but stacked together they turn gold from a bottleneck into a steady income.
